Hello again, beautiful people!

The most common question I get when I tell people that I’m leaving for a month to go to Costa Rica, is “why?”

Mission trips are popular among my age demographic, and I can guarantee that almost every single one of you reading this post has seen somebody (besides me) post something about fundraising for a mission trip. So, what makes The World Race different? Why is this trip, out of all of the possibilities, the one that I decided to go on?

The easiest way to answer this is question is to say “because I believe God told me to go on this trip”, and that fact is very true. After much prayer and consideration, I felt called in my spirit that this trip is where I am supposed to be. However, it goes so much deeper than just “because He told me so.”

God placed all of the right people in my path to lead me to this trip. A couple of friends of mine from my college ministry had been on the race, and I engaged in conversations with them when I started feeling called to mission work. Later, two men who work with The World Race came and spoke to my church about it. I did some research, I found Costa Rica, and in finding Costa Rica, I found things I am passionate about and that I enjoy doing. I love working with my hands, I love being outdoors, and I love intentional fellowship. I hit my knees in prayer for weeks, and each day, the feeling in my spirit just got stronger and stronger. I believe it is The Lord who placed this confidence in me, and that He’s calling me out of my back yard, out of my comfort zone, and into a whole new ballpark.

There are so many unreached people who are in dyer need of hearing the Good News of Jesus Christ. While discipleship can be intimidating, and quite frankly awkward at times, I believe wholeheartedly that God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. I believe this calling to Costa Rica is meant to impact the Costa Rican people, as well as myself, in ways that I can’t even begin to imagine. I know He will equip me to do work that will glorify His kingdom, and that will impact the rest of eternity.

Here’s to spreading the Good News.
